Arthur Eugene Vader, 83, of Spotswood, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge.

Born in Spotswood, Art was a lifelong resident of the Boro. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Afterwards, he spent 27 years as a production supervisor with the former Charles Komar and sons company of South Amboy. He then went on to work for 15 more years at Spotswood High School as a maintenance supervisor before retiring in 2000. Art was a life member and past chief of the Spotswood Fire Department. He was also active in the Spotswood VFW and American Legion, as well as the Polish-American Citizenís club and the Republican club. Art loved his family dearly and had a deep passion for his hometown and his country.

Predeceased by his daughter, Beverly Halmo in 1978, his wife, Marie in 1979, and his brother, George in 2002, he is survived by his children, Gail Eaton of Wake Forest, NC, Diane Krauss and her husband Jeffrey, also of Wake Forest, Arthur Vader and his wife Karen of Columbia, NC and Kenneth Vader and his wife Shawn of Dandridge, TN; his sister, Elmira Thomas, and; two grandchildren, Aaron Schumitta and Anthony Bonura.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM Wednesday from Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, with interment to follow in the Reformed Church Cemetery, Spotswood. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
